Eleven teenagers were wounded in a mass shooting at a birthday gathering in the US state of Georgia, with two of them in critical condition, media reports said on Monday. The shooting occurred around midnight during a “large gathering” at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon, about 85 miles (137 kilometres) southeast of Atlanta, CBS News reported, citing the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The victims were four 18-year-old men, two 18-year-old women and five 17-year-old boys. An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy remained in critical condition, while the other nine victims were stable. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said the gathering appeared to be a birthday party that had originally been planned at another location before attendees moved to the park. More than 400 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on March 18, during a ceasefire agreement, sparking widespread condemnation from prominent figures, including Jemima Goldsmith and Bollywood celebrities. The airstrikes have drawn sharp criticism from across the globe, as many continue to voice their support for the Palestinian cause. British activist Jemima Goldsmith also voiced her frustration, criticizing global leaders and Western media for their bias over the situation in Gaza. On her X account, she wrote, “On October 7, when 36 Israeli children and a newborn were ruthlessly murdered, it was rightfully remembered. World leaders condemned it, films were made so it never be forgotten, the Israeli flag was diplayed on public buildings across the globe. Yet, when 130 Palestinian children were killed in their sleep just a mile away on March 18, it didn't even make the front page. This was just another day in Gaza.” Indian actress Swara Bhasker, known for her outspoken views, strongly condemned the airstrikes, labeling Israel a “terrorist.” In a post on her official X account, Bhasker wrote with the hashtag #FreePalestine: “We live in a world where the slaughter of 400 children in a single day is apparently acceptable just because they are Palestinians. A woman who sought nearly $5,000 in damages after being bitten by a dog on Christmas Eve has had her claim dismissed, after a British Columbia tribunal ruled the incident amounted to an accident — and that “every dog is entitled to one bite.” Ying Shen was bitten on the hand by a mini Australian Shepherd named Juliet as she stepped out of an elevator in her apartment building in Vancouver on 24 December 2022.
